Bruce Staples is an internationally recognized fly tyer that has demonstrated his skills at FFF regional, national and worldwide fly tying symposiums. He is a renowned fly tying instructor at all levels of the art and conducts many fly tying workshops and seminars.

He is the author of three fly tying books: Snake River Country Flies and Waters, Yellowstone Park River Journal and Trout Country Flies to be released in 2002 by Frank Amato Publications. He has written extensively on fly tying in American Angler, Fly Tyer, Trout and Flyfisher Magazines.

Bruce Staples lives in Idaho Falls, Idaho and has fished the greater Yellowstone waters for three decades. He is a recipient of the Charles E. Brooks Memorial Life Membership Award from the Federation of Fly Fishers and a 1990 winner of the FFF Western Rocky Mountain Council's Fly Tyer of the Year award.

He is a member of the FFF Snake River Cutthroats Club in Idaho Falls and a member of the Upper Snake River Fly Fishers, Rexburg, Idaho. He is also a continuous contributor to the preservation of Greater Yellowstone cold water fisheries. Bruce has been a strong supporter of the Federation and the Western Rocky Mountain Council FFF for many years and is most deserving of this award.
